Amidst all the Jazz hype hitting the kingdom towards the end of the year,
there were two extraordinary concerts quite different from the rest.
“ADVANCE Acoustic Jazz Moments”, held in Chiang Mai (22 November) and in
Korat (29 November) exclusively for GSM ADVANCE Platinum customers as part
of the Privilege Program, presented the countries top celebreties in the
field. The concerts featured a very special blend of both, musical style
and it’s acoustic presentation.
Jazz, Ethnic, Classical, Pop, Fusion and World music melted into a perfect
blend of universal musical style, all with that jazzy feel. Thailand’s top
jazz songbirds Narigrachang Kantamath and Jennifer Kim alongside their
male counterparts POM Autobahn and KOH Mr. Saxman presented their
favourite tunes in a slightly different, more acoustic and jazzy way,
bringing yet new and more exciting aspect to their well-known acts.
Adding spice to their world of jazz were internationally acclaimed world/
classical guitarist HUCKY Eichelmann, rising glasharp star Weeraphong
Thaweesak and Chiang Mai’s musical singer icon Soontaree Vechanon.
While HUCKY excelled in his brilliant renderings of His Majesty the King’s
music as well as his thrilling repertoire of Asian and other world music,
Weeraphong integrated his outstanding skills on the eyebrow raising
gallery of his collection of glasses. Soontaree, the undisputed musical
icon of the North, enchanted the audiences with that one time only voice
blending northern Thai musical beauty in her own, very unique style.
The impressive line-up of these outstanding artists presenting their
wellknown music was an extraordinary treat of POP-FUSION-CLASSICAL &
ETHNIC JAZZ blends pleasing even the most sophisticated musical gourmets.
A true life style event.
The concert in Chiang Mai was televised on UBC (Film Asia Channel) during
December 5, 2003 and parts of it on itv during December 10 as part of the
celebrations for His Majesty the King’s birthday.
